My name is Airi,
and I am a hopeless gastromantic.
Growing up in Tokyo, one of the best food cities in the world, gastronomy has been a part of my culture, my identity and often the basis for my friendships. My epicurean tendencies can be credited to my mother, who spoiled me with only the finest cuisines both locally and internationally. I have many fond memories of conversations around dinner tables, cooking along to my favorite tunes or sharing a bottle of wine with special people in my life.

Food photography is something I started as a way to document my travels through eating. Since Tokyo, I have lived in Philadelphia, Paris, Honolulu and now Sydney. I have also visited other cities in Japan, the United States, Europe and around Asia. My appetite for travel and ethnic food is ever-growing, and I am excited to share my discoveries with you.

I shoot with a Fujifilm X-M1 with a XC 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OIS lens or an iPhone 7 (on lazier days) and edit in Lightroom. None of my dishes are staged. I simply wish to capture them in their best angle and light.
